Would have been nice to have a comparison showing type (retrofit/replace), cost per window, quality, noise, connection options (wifi/BT) ease of install, power options, type of window shade, etc.

    Great video..thank you.

  3. @nagyba on November 13, 2024 at 12:34 pm

It doesn’t make it completely dark! Useless!

  4. @joukenienhuis6888 on November 13, 2024 at 12:37 pm

I like the rod version. It is only not the kind of blind automation for me, because I have a chain

    Home assistant?

  7. @anggeeadlof9043 on November 13, 2024 at 12:40 pm

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)… but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn’t support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have…. Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with… I don’t sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn’t really matter to me….

is there a retrofit for two separate string pull type blinds?

  9. @hogluvr1 on November 13, 2024 at 12:41 pm

Great vid, Reed. I have a question regarding the Ikea product. Did you find the measurements to be true to size, widthwise? I’m sort of between sizes, and afraid it might gap if I go smaller, or be too big if I go wide.

  10. @kenteastwood1 on November 13, 2024 at 12:42 pm

Is there any option for venetian blinds without the wand? My blinds have ropes to pull and so far I can only find smart options for the wand or roller blinds

  11. @melissataylor3621 on November 13, 2024 at 12:42 pm

hi! I’ve been searching your YouTube and trying to find a solution, do you have suggestions to automate existing honeycomb bottom up shades?

  12. @ItzzSwaggy on November 13, 2024 at 12:45 pm

Can you use the Lutron pico and caseta remotes with the ikea roller shades?

  13. @samm9017 on November 13, 2024 at 12:46 pm

If you want to pull the blinds up, how would you do it with the wand?

  14. @3zadam on November 13, 2024 at 12:46 pm

does IKEA blinds transmit the battery life to smartthings home hub? I want to know when the battery is getting low. my current thirdreality blinds I am testing do not show battery status in smartthings which is annoying. I know the batteries will die when i need it most.

  15. @geekinthegarden3927 on November 13, 2024 at 12:48 pm

Nice video. For the switchbot curtain opener does it come in pairs or do you have to get 2 bots per pair of curtains?

  16. @mikekane9734 on November 13, 2024 at 12:49 pm

Lutron battery option is good for 3-5 years believe it or not.

  17. @dearontufankjian9823 on November 13, 2024 at 12:50 pm

How did you buy the Lurton blinds and customize the design?

  18. @charlesdaniel3512 on November 13, 2024 at 12:50 pm

  19. @SmartHomeSolver on November 13, 2024 at 12:52 pm

What are you using for smart blinds?

  20. @JaapVanderHorst on November 13, 2024 at 12:53 pm

Home assistant with a bluetooth proxy does not need a seperate bluetooth hub for the switchbot.

  21. @Kueh44 on November 13, 2024 at 12:53 pm

    Easy, but not cheap.

  22. @reidb18 on November 13, 2024 at 12:55 pm

Never thought about motorizing my blinds til I saw that retrofit wand. Now I’m inspired.

  23. @Rayja3 on November 13, 2024 at 12:56 pm

I’m interested in that bay Signal lamp 👀 where can I get one

  24. @Elbown on November 13, 2024 at 12:58 pm

Anyone know of alternatives to the smart wand? Considering it’s not for sale right now

  25. @cc_snipergirl on November 13, 2024 at 12:59 pm

Any ideas for your basic string pull shades? The kind that you pull the string in one direction to lock after you open them and the other direction to unlock and close them. They’re roughly 5ft wide but kinda heavy blackout shades.

  26. @Hendragorden on November 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm

    Waaaww,,,,amazing,,window blind

  27. @Weizboy on November 13, 2024 at 1:01 pm

What year were these available by ikea?

  28. @samus4799 on November 13, 2024 at 1:02 pm

I’m going Lutron for my lighting, which will be switches instead of individual smart lights. In all of my research they seem to be much more reliable than any other brand and cheaper than Hue lights. I’ll stick with their ecosystem, HomeKit compatibility is a big plus, I think that will be great for resale value.

  29. @EveryDay-pk3lg on November 13, 2024 at 1:02 pm

Anyone ever heard of ryse home shades?

  30. @lebong4606 on November 13, 2024 at 1:03 pm

bro took 10mins to peel the sticky bit off 3m and put the wand in. yeah you are super slow

  31. @wendyjones1422 on November 13, 2024 at 1:05 pm

Can you make normal blinds automated or smart cos the prices are expensive to buy

  32. @delinquense on November 13, 2024 at 1:06 pm

As others mentioned, I would think you can just use rechargeable batteries on the Lutron, so no real disadvantage.

  33. @underdog576967 on November 13, 2024 at 1:06 pm

Looking into Smartwings cellular blinds or roller shades…they seem to be quality and a decent price point .
    Go up to 110” wide

  34. @nhatruclepalacios2462 on November 13, 2024 at 1:07 pm

  45. @williampennjr.4448 on November 13, 2024 at 1:27 pm

When is somebody going to come out with a device to open and close regular windows? Its an obvious no brainer.
All I see are one’s for tilt windows which far more complicated that just up and down.

  46. @wendyjones1422 on November 13, 2024 at 1:28 pm

Good idea but doesn’t it make people kinda abit lazy having all these smart options lol

  47. @3zadam on November 13, 2024 at 1:29 pm

does this work the same with smartthings for IKEA praktlysing shades?

  48. @juliamcdonald4049 on November 13, 2024 at 1:29 pm
