Cameras only work if they don’t cover their faces. Most do now. But better confirmation someone is trying to break in though.

  2. @jbworkman2218 on November 13, 2024 at 12:10 pm

The issues with alarms they call you and if you don’t answer they call your back up. Too much time passes I had cameras up at my dad’s home saw two people come in called the police and I arrived before the police did. Get cameras!

  3. @whoscitric on November 13, 2024 at 12:10 pm

I’d like a security alarm and cameras because I live downtown in grande prairie Alberta and we have a lot of homeless in the city and my truck has been broken into multiple times, I’m actually in the middle of purchasing one and stumbled across your video

  4. @Japanese_one_Tokyo on November 13, 2024 at 12:11 pm

We have Installed hardwired and wireless CCTV, burglar alarm that detects smoke, panic buttons, window smash or hit sensors, a thick metal front door even the police can’t break in, we have 2 guard dogs, both me and my wife took shooting lessons and have legally obtained firearms, and own two shotguns, we have a secret room we have big gates with electric fence.

And guess what, the robbers still came one night and managed to get into the property.

    Welcome to South Africa

  5. @theblackprophet1 on November 13, 2024 at 12:13 pm

No idea why his advice would be not to get an alarm but, it is still a deterrent. I agree CCTV is great but it’s all about reducing risk and he has not said anything to say that having an alarm doe snot reduce risk. a crack head will still try if there are cameras and lights. A siren brings attention to your property which no crack head wants. I don’t mind waking my neighbours.

  6. @jokester5130 on November 13, 2024 at 12:15 pm

I mean they’re still in your house even with cameras so still too late

  7. @bradleysteeves3291 on November 13, 2024 at 12:15 pm

power failure, grid down, its all worthless, driving in my car and I get an alert…..10 minutes later all you have is video.. police do not respond to property crimes in canada Cities. Big box stores, gas stations drive offs, hose break ins, police dont come, dont care. call your insurance.

  8. @fad3dmik3 on November 13, 2024 at 12:18 pm

The siren is the biggest deterrent with an alarm system. And ill take a fee compared to taking the time to look at the video and call the cops myself, when i could be using that precious time to grab my weapon and make sure my family’s safe

  9. @zackk7779 on November 13, 2024 at 12:23 pm

So why not like adt which has the old fashion and at the same time the new google contract so it has the video doorbell and camera system etc with the two way auto and everything all together

  10. @RayValdezPhotography on November 13, 2024 at 12:23 pm

It have front Point it saved me a few times because of the loud audible alarm that scares away criminals. Without thtat My home owuld have been emptied. You are right about false alarms though. It can happen and it is $75 a pop in Philly.

  11. @philralph2529 on November 13, 2024 at 12:25 pm

Good day. I just watched this video and while I do have a UL commercial system for my jewelry store I too do not feel like I need that for my home. We are about to out in a pool and I’d like to secure my home and liked your ideas about being mor pro active. Can you offer assistance in do ling this with cameras and alleys?

  12. @schwamieboy1 on November 13, 2024 at 12:26 pm

    You need all the above

  13. @jdbrown3695 on November 13, 2024 at 12:27 pm

Thanks for the advice. I had been wondering about this subject.

  14. @antoneawiley8305 on November 13, 2024 at 12:27 pm

Both is good because what if you’re notifications going off on your phone but you’re at work or whatever and you don’t see it or catch it..at least the police will be called for you by paying a month

  15. @Born2BeWildOfficial on November 13, 2024 at 12:28 pm

I got a ring security system and I’m just self monitoring
I also use 7 Wyze cams for outdoors

  16. @RobJohnsonRules on November 13, 2024 at 12:31 pm

Sometimes they’re not bad people? Disagree. They are automatically bad people and it’s high time society starts treating them that way.

  17. @plaid13 on November 13, 2024 at 12:31 pm

The alarm systems can be connected to carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors and flood detectors… That alone is worth it. If you really care get a sprinkler system and an alarm system and cameras. That way if you have a fire the sprinklers will keep it under control or put it out the alarm makes sure the fire department is called. Your alarm can be set to unlock the doors for them. They can show up take care of what fire is left and cut the water so the whole house dosnt flood from the sprinklers.
The loud noise they make can also alert neighbors if you have them if someone breaks in. Yeah it wont do much good for the addict looking to steal $100 worth of stuff for drug money. It will however stop someone from spending 15 min cutting open your gun safe or searching the whole house.

  18. @RajatSingh-m2s5x on November 13, 2024 at 12:32 pm

    Idiot

  19. @thefiqster on November 13, 2024 at 12:32 pm

Fact of the matter is that perpetrators will scope out your house. If you have visual sensors especially on your windows thieves will notice them and generally move on to the next house. They don’t want the heat. Also notice that you have ADC cameras on your board in which the analytics will only truly work if someone is within 25ft of the cameras during sunlight and only 15ft at night. So. If they cameras don’t pick them up and your alarm is set, you have time to react.

  20. @TetraSamurai on November 13, 2024 at 12:33 pm

burglar alarm is so I can be alerted while sleeping so I can grab my shotgun

  21. @heartmixologist7772 on November 13, 2024 at 12:34 pm

Is all fun until does happen! You never had any type alarm

  22. @TargetBuster on November 13, 2024 at 12:34 pm

This is a good video. I agree with about everything you said, however there is one area that is worth considering. There are many folks out there that will get paid for professional monitoring through reduced home insurance premiums. So in this case it is financially smart to have professional monitoring. I think this is a stupid insurance policy but it is what it is. In this case I think it is wise to do both to the extent you can.

  23. @fencepost5369 on November 13, 2024 at 12:36 pm

    Thank you😮

  24. @danwarne1358 on November 13, 2024 at 12:37 pm

My issue with cameras is the alerts come through too slowly. I’ve got a Google Nest Cam on my front porch as well as a Google Nest Doorbell. The alerts come through 60s – 3-4 minutes after the actual event. Are there any brands that don’t have this problem?

  25. @arghyachatterjee3008 on November 13, 2024 at 12:38 pm

    I have four layered system.

1, External camera with AI and face recognition software. Those are POE caeras, not WiFi.

    2. All the glass windows have glass break alarm.

    3. All windows and doors also have sensors and the inside of the house have motion detectors and indoor cameras.

    4. I carry several self defense tools to defend the house against intruders.

  26. @glennnlau on November 13, 2024 at 12:38 pm

Thank you for making this video! Do you have experience with the reliability “panic buttons”?

I’ve mostly come to the same conclusion about traditional alarm systems but there was one thing that would make it worth it IF they are reliable.

A panic button would be something we can keep in the room for elderly or children so that if there is an intruder they can set off the alarm and send request for help to 911 directly.

  27. @CJ-vg4tg on November 13, 2024 at 12:39 pm

True but good to have both – cameras with AI detection and alerts/actions (blueiris/codeproject/nodered/homeassistant etc) to alert you before they enter the premises, also cabled takex 360 exterior sensors to set off the central alarm before they reach your house from the yard, then of course your internal sensors all with a UPS and gps/sim set up. Can only do so much.

  28. @effrem123 on November 13, 2024 at 12:40 pm

This guys said the very true, monitoring companies are just money making machines with RMR , surveillance are more accurate and efective then a burglar alarm system

  29. @thesnare100 on November 13, 2024 at 12:40 pm

What about just preventing the person from entering in the first place, any good doors, or windows that can’t be broken easily? I don’t think they can pick locks with credit cards anymore. Not saying this will totally protect you (nothing will 100%) but they have to get in to get your stuff first, either by picking a lock/ or breaking in.

  30. @freerakhelliumhotspotminer9220 on November 13, 2024 at 12:43 pm

What does bypassing a zone do? And is it safe?

  31. @henrynevins on November 13, 2024 at 12:48 pm

George, I had a break in at my house, teen kids I believe, they stolen some things including 1700’s flintlock rifles. Since then for the past six months have been reading, watching and thinking about a security system to do what I want it to do. I’ve watched your video a few times and conclude your advice is the best of all, I want to stop them before they get in. I also don’t want to pay a monthly fee, and don’t like at all all the DIY high tech, computer, wifi, smartphone and battery operated sensors today, all totally Micky Mouse.

I’d like a basic hard wire system with motion detectors pointed close to the outsides of the house and then to an alarm, to stop before they get in. I’d have a key switch or code switch to turn the system on when I leave the house or going to sleep at night. Radio Shack used to sell a complete hard wire metal box system were a person could add sensors, motion, and an alarm, but they’re now out of business. What do you recommend, I rather be proactive. What good are cameras alone if they get inside? Thank you

  32. @noobtuber9037 on November 13, 2024 at 12:48 pm

Everything he’s saying is true. So I’ll just tell you why you might want it. The reason to have it is cause most break ins happen when your not home. Just get both. The advantage of a monitoring center is they already have the information such as your address. So you’re not in the phone explaining to the police how you know there are people at your house. Giving them your address.

  33. @viper1k247 on November 13, 2024 at 12:48 pm

Here police dont respond but security does and is faster than police

  34. @eleanoreperry1231 on November 13, 2024 at 12:49 pm

I was looking for an outdoor camera to keep an eye on my dogs in the yard when I’m not home. https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe Tried a different one that was absolutely terrible, so I got these instead. They work perfectly! With 3 of these cameras I can see every corner of the yard, and they were very easy to set up. The best part is I only get the footage I want to see, not hours of videos of the bird feeder swaying in the breeze.

  35. @jeradvaughn7527 on November 13, 2024 at 12:50 pm

This guy seems intelligent so I’m 100% certain his bias is formed selfishly. Until you have facial recognition and every single American citizens face in the database, video surveillance does NOTHING to protect you if you’re away from your “screen”. Ok, let say you hire a video monitoring service. Burglar walks up, motion alert sent, he breaks in, monitoring service calls police…. How is that any different than an alarm system? Not to mention cameras require internet, so all the thief has to do is cut your cable or fiber line and they’re in. At least alarms have a battery and cellular backup. This dude knows all these things, just talking in his own self interest. If you want protection get an alarm AND video surveillance

  36. @chrisracer2007 on November 13, 2024 at 12:50 pm

    Do you like ubiquiti

  37. @sharkfinn6469 on November 13, 2024 at 12:52 pm

    Perimeter prevention is better.
But in some countries these alarm systems are linked to private security is a few hours faster than police

  38. @patriciajackson3250 on November 13, 2024 at 12:55 pm

I reside in a Senior housing apartment whereby the staff are related. Yes, too much nepotisom.
This is federal property. Nevertheless,I have encounted so many unlawful entries and thief of property. And the police refuses to 6:06 6:06 to address my concerns

  39. @flailmail7069 on November 13, 2024 at 12:55 pm

Dog + 12 seems to have had the best results for me. Bird buck buck buck. And your right, alarms are useless & overpriced can make 1 yourself for a tenth of the price.

  40. @davidmunozrobinsonbours2950 on November 13, 2024 at 12:59 pm

And then what cameras system is the good one?

  41. @zackk695 on November 13, 2024 at 12:59 pm

I do t want my dog involved at all if criminals are inside. I have the CCTV because I want to know if someone is in there with my dog. I don’t care what kind of dog I have I don’t want them going up against a criminal. They won’t think nothing of hurting or killing a dog

  42. @rebel7254 on November 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm

Millions of people have cable for internet service. All it takes is a pair of bolt cutters to cut the cable and your fancy camera system is defeated.

  43. @karanbeck8018 on November 13, 2024 at 1:02 pm

How do you feel about the SIMPLY SAFE HOME SECURITY SYSTEM? PLEASE HELP 🙏

  44. @BarryWhite-h5h on November 13, 2024 at 1:02 pm

Nothing works as well as a claymore hidden around your perimeter 😅

  45. @calebphipps164 on November 13, 2024 at 1:03 pm

1st "The Ring" is not an alarm system, if it doesn’t meet UL standards than its junk

2nd …You really need both. Security Alarm and Video…

    3rd…It’s $30 a month…thats 1 meal…you can avoid 1 meal for an alarm…it wont break the bank

  46. @Barracuda24-f3w on November 13, 2024 at 1:03 pm

Hey George. Am a senior with no wifi. Have ADT equipment that I don’t know how to reset.

    Have old cameras with DVR.

What do you recommend that does not break the bank.

Wifi is a monopoly where I live and way too expensive. Thanks.

  47. @rambo2981 on November 13, 2024 at 1:05 pm

Proactive with cameras means you have to carry your phone around all the time when you’re away from your property to see the pushed alerts from the camera app. That’s not practical for everyone. It seems like both types of security are needed.

  48. @rorysalarms8110 on November 13, 2024 at 1:06 pm

George Langabeer i am planing on starting my own Alarm Company called Rory’s Alarms because i like to install security cameras and Burglar alarms and Fire alarms and i have a Honeywell vista 20p alarm system and a loud MPI-11 siren driver and horn speaker one 30 watt and one 15 watt 2 in my attic and a voice driver and flush mounted speaker in my cellar and TC 2.0 self monitoring app and i feel safe and protected also i like your videos keep up the good work.

  49. @gevansmd on November 13, 2024 at 1:06 pm

Because burglars don’t wear ski masks and/or enter through entrances where there are no cameras… The chances of identifying the burglar through a camear image are near zero. I’d rather frighten them away with a louf alarm than have a video of a masked person rummaging through my house.

  50. @hammerdown184 on November 13, 2024 at 1:06 pm

    Do both
