I always think Powertec when I see one of these. Why does Powertec get little love from reviews companies? I know Home Gym Hacks loves their stuff.

  2. @jollygreen9377 on November 13, 2024 at 12:08 pm

I have this and love mine. Great review though. Hopefully they listen to your feedback and make the changes you suggested.

  3. @killerkhatiby009 on November 13, 2024 at 12:10 pm

I’d say the most compact leg press for a home gym would probably be a smith machine with a vertical leg press plate. People dog on the vertical leg press but if you set it up right it’s actually a fantastic option.

You get a lot more versatility via the smith functionality so no extra wasted floor space, you need the least amount of plates since the vertical angle means you feel 100% of the load, and you can do glute or quad focused pressing based on if you’re lying on the floor or backwards on an incline bench to mimic angling the torso away like you would when leaning the seat back on a standard leg press.

Please get rid of the annoying useless background music

  5. @jamesmurphy3058 on November 13, 2024 at 12:11 pm

I got this new at an auction for $400 and use it multiple times a week. I absolutely love it but Coop hit the nail on the head. Every issue I have with it Coop brought up. If you can get a good deal on it pull the trigger, if not then you should look at other options.

  6. @monkmoney5547 on November 13, 2024 at 12:11 pm

body solid leg press/hack squat next?

  7. @Tman-d1r on November 13, 2024 at 12:14 pm

I had this machine and got rid of it. I liked it at first, but The bearings started to get very noisy in under a year and I started feel it there was a bit of drag with heavier weights. Ordered the Powertec version, but received defective part. One week later and I am still waiting for them to send out replacement pieces. So far not having alot of luck with these compact leg presses.

  8. @verablack3137 on November 13, 2024 at 12:14 pm

Commercial gyms really do have something like this, just as an example the Precor RSL0602 selectorized leg press, most Planet Fitnesses have something like that. I really like using the selectorized commerical versions, but they don’t feel like a leg press at all, they feel like a hack squat. I wouldn’t mind one in my home gym, but my gym is my bedroom. I suppose it might fit under a loft bed though.

  9. @Markinator83 on November 13, 2024 at 12:15 pm

I bought the powertec leg press, it’s footprint is smaller because of the width

  10. @amfitness5598 on November 13, 2024 at 12:15 pm

I bought the sydee version on Temu (total cost of everything) under 400$. There were a few issues that may deter a rookie home gym person. Having assembled and used many home gym equipment pieces from different manufacturers I was able to do everything and now happily using the compact leg press. I really wanted the powertec version of this but it’s nearly a grand. Beggars can’t be choosers. If u don’t have the room for an actual leg press and are on a budget shop on TEMU. Yes I used to laugh at people doing that but there are decent knock off versions of TF and others on there for half the money!

  11. @GT-cl6ez on November 13, 2024 at 12:17 pm

    coopy is an idiot

  12. @thebodybeatdownDiTi on November 13, 2024 at 12:17 pm

I had the Titan version. It was pretty good but the angle is so low Its not quite as effective. Needs to be more around 45d angle or closer..

  13. @jasonfigueroa3202 on November 13, 2024 at 12:18 pm

Coop, i really appreciate the time, effort, and thoroughness of the content you put out

  14. @98R0791 on November 13, 2024 at 12:19 pm

C2 Strength Erg has a kind of leg press. Please do a preview at the C2 HQ.

  15. @graham1034 on November 13, 2024 at 12:20 pm

Body Solid needs to update their logo. It’s reminiscent of 90s budget commercial gym marketing.

  16. @mikejensen1473 on November 13, 2024 at 12:20 pm

    Review the TYTAX MX please!

  17. @ahpp96 on November 13, 2024 at 12:23 pm

I have a body solid RowErg that I love zero regrets so that is already 1 point to this right off.

  18. @ericodum4043 on November 13, 2024 at 12:23 pm

How you can turn a review of this thing into 16 minutes is truly a work of art

  19. @salescamilla1870 on November 13, 2024 at 12:24 pm

Got ForceUSA compact combo. Its fine

  20. @bobbyhunt3009 on November 13, 2024 at 12:24 pm

Most people won’t have enough 45’s in their home gym to get a working set of 6-8 reps.
It requires too many plates and you
Cannot use bumpers, has to be iron or calibrated plates.
IMO, this machine is just not worth the money, with all the other leg machines out there.

  21. @tranformingthebody on November 13, 2024 at 12:24 pm

From a design aspect, I would prefer the weight horns be situated behind the body – up higher on the carriage. This might allow for a deeper ‘squat’. And, yes, don’t artificially limit the depth. Let it go almost to the floor. Personally, I would want the capacity (user+weight) to be over 1,000 pounds. Maybe closer to 1,200 pounds.

  22. @grantsager2572 on November 13, 2024 at 12:25 pm

I have the Titan version (got it on Facebook). Titan was the most compact I could find, but it doesn’t have a calf option so I made my own (2×4, grip tape and bike hooks over the top of the foot plate so it’s easy to remove). Solid machine, great for my 13yo son as well and does the job when you don’t have space for a true leg press). Get it used and it’s a great value.

  23. @rondy16 on November 13, 2024 at 12:27 pm

I recently purchased the Force USA compact Hack/Leg Press and highly recommend it!!

  24. @GRPABT1 on November 13, 2024 at 12:27 pm

Planet Fitness has commercial "leg presses" like this style and they suck. No tanks.

  25. @jlirving on November 13, 2024 at 12:27 pm

Seen them referred to as leg sled which I think is the Powertec word for them.

Edit: Lol literally the next word 🤣

  26. @peppyhydra4544 on November 13, 2024 at 12:28 pm

Coop uploads a video, I sit down and watch. 🔥

  27. @TW-nz7cx on November 13, 2024 at 12:32 pm

I have the Titan leg press/hack squat. I absolutely love it! It’s smooth even though it’s on rollers and not linear like the Body Solid. Only wish my Titan had a little bit more depth but the adjustable seat pad/foot plate makes up for the depth. It’s also $1800 but for the convenience (never thought I’d have a leg press at home), it’s worth it to me.

  28. @NicksGotBeef on November 13, 2024 at 12:32 pm

The force USA is by far the best, and that is from experience, I now own the new force USA. Had the body solid and powertec. One thing, you can add 2×2 wood to the yoke to allow even deeper squating

  29. @OfficialLeverKing on November 13, 2024 at 12:33 pm

Would be great to see a video on premium home gym items! Stuff like the rogue donkey, or what the best combo machines are. Companies like Prime USA and Atlantis aren’t often considered for home gyms, but they might have a couple things that could translate really well to a home gym for a connoisseur

  30. @BjWeeks on November 13, 2024 at 12:34 pm

Maybe Coop could buy Cybex I’m sure the company is going cheap!

  31. @FLEXjs on November 13, 2024 at 12:37 pm

I have a 45 degree leg press in my home gym and I don’t think it takes up much more space than this.

  32. @blactastic100 on November 13, 2024 at 12:37 pm

Definitely want to see a review on the force USA compact

  33. @jonathanz9889 on November 13, 2024 at 12:38 pm

It’s actually seriously impressive how much time you spend in the gym and still look the way you do

  34. @Hawkinator855 on November 13, 2024 at 12:40 pm

Yea I have it and I do love it super smooth have had it for 3 years almost now no problems and I also agree great for calf raises

  35. @tonyspamoni5641 on November 13, 2024 at 12:40 pm

I have the powertec leg sled. Something about the movement I just don’t feel connected to the weight the same way as with a leg press. It’s a decent machine, but if I had to do it over again I’d get a traditional leg press.

  36. @SeanBals on November 13, 2024 at 12:41 pm

Looks more like a calve machine than a leg press

  37. @killerkhatiby009 on November 13, 2024 at 12:41 pm

Coop, can definitely see you’ve been studying up on your exercise science!! Love the informative content around lengthened-biased training and maximizing hypertrophy, keep it up! 💪💪

You should also check out the new RitKeep Leg Press + Hack Squat combo. Seems to be unique in that it has a large foot plate compared to most other combo units.

Lastly, is there a MAXUM Fitness SX2 review coming anytime soon? Really curious to see your thoughts on that one!

  38. @cavidn7856 on November 13, 2024 at 12:43 pm

Name should have been a Hack Press machine

  39. @jaku8513 on November 13, 2024 at 12:45 pm

You’d probably easily max out the machine when doing calf raises

  40. @stevo0916 on November 13, 2024 at 12:47 pm

Gotta go with a bolt fitness leg press…

  41. @mach5jeep on November 13, 2024 at 12:47 pm

There is no reason they couldn’t turn this around and put the back rest at the bottom and a pivoting foot plate at the top. It could even be shorter if they increased the angle. As it is it seems pretty useless to me

  42. @stevegrimes5105 on November 13, 2024 at 12:49 pm

Coop! Force compact leg press next review!

If these compact units are 30 degrees they are 28% less vertical force than a 45 degree leg press? (sine 45 .7071 vs sine 30 .5)

  43. @jameyowens81 on November 13, 2024 at 12:51 pm

The background music on this one is godawful and seizure inducing. Hopefully it’s not a new favorite

  44. @mr.t4471 on November 13, 2024 at 12:51 pm

1000lbs total weight is not enough when you factor in body weight and the angle. Have any plans on reviewing the Powertec Leg Press?

  45. @HeelerGSD on November 13, 2024 at 12:57 pm

I own this exact "leg press." Here’s my user review: You can get a great quad workout, but the range of motion is poor. I have three inches of pads on the foot platform to increase ROM, and also wear weight lifting shoes. This fixes ROM pretty well. I am 5’11" btw. I agree with Coop’s point about pushing the backpad forward for better ROM depth… BUT that is a weird position. It just feels super cramped. So I "raised" the footplate (with mats) instead to increase depth.

It’s pretty bad for calf pressing, IMHO. (Sorry, Coop!). My heels hit the floor when I go full ROM on the calf press eccentric. Maybe I go way more on my toes than Coop does? In the video, his shoes were half way up the platform. For me the calf press ergonomics are bad. Also, the center post limits how close together you can position your feet.

It’s pretty smooth and quiet, but sometimes sounds "gravely." Coop’s sound demo may be the best it will sound. Coop is right, it eats up plates quickly and because it’s a "linear" leg press, you need to add more weight, relatively speaking. Fit and finish/build quality is "good enough" but not really impressive. For example, the foot plate is sort of warped by design where the plate meets the post it is welded to. All in all I am still happy with it. I wanted a hack squat, but between the cheap pricing and the compact size I opted for this instead. I use it twice a week, and it’s definitely been a gamer changer (it’s my only actual gym machine other than rack mounted stuff).

  46. @davidjfein on November 13, 2024 at 12:58 pm

    1. I can’t believe you’re actually branching out and reviewing specialized machines like you said you would- thank you and please keep it up!

    2. I have the Titan version and it’s…fine. I hate squatting and put this in my apartment living room because I only have so much room.

    3. The one thing I wish you told us is how the weight on the machine feels compared to squatting. I’m trying to understand if I do 400 pounds on the machine, does that feel like 185 pound squats? I have no frame of reference, and I think in future reviews, people would prob like to know how to compare it to free weight standards if possible.

    4. I hope you review the power-tec multi press next, since it’s safer than benching at home.

  47. @Danielprokopij on November 13, 2024 at 1:02 pm

I have wanted to see a forceusa compact leg press/hack squat for a while.

  48. @Arkadiosjiujitsu on November 13, 2024 at 1:02 pm

Looks like it also needs another set of weight horns and slant them upward

  49. @zanegriggs5166 on November 13, 2024 at 1:03 pm

Is the bulletproof VTS attachment review coming this year 😢?

  50. @tonygillahan on November 13, 2024 at 1:05 pm

Are you going to be reviewing the Force USA C10 with sliding bench?
