The Reality Behind Portable Solar Chargers! (20,000 mAh Yoesoid Review)

Portable solar charges seem great in concept but actually aren’t too effective. Here’s why.

I received mine today, now I’m sad ☹️

My charger Breck gets very hot charging it. I wouldn’t leave it charging while I sleep it might burn down my house while I sleep.

I am happy with mine. I am on a rural electric network that seems to have power loss issues fairly often. They do work on the cause very quickly and restore power within a couple of hours usually. Of course it generally happens when I haven’t charged my phone recently. The solar charger that I keep by a window to stay charged is a nice backup to be able to continue to use my cell phone during any outages.

  4. @hackmasterHQ on November 13, 2024 at 12:16 pm

Your best bet would be to buy ten of them.

  5. @fegrace_1 on November 13, 2024 at 12:24 pm

Great review, very accurate! Unfortunately, I saw it after making the purchase. We are dealing with a power outage so I got it thinking I would use it for my device (as advertised) and outdoor solar lights which cover my two of my needs. It worked the first day for a few minutes and it hasn’t charged my phone since. I will be returning it and looking into a better quality charger. Thank for sharing!

Not for everyday use, but obviously better than nothing if you’re alone in the wilderness and far from a wallplug. Still a nice gadget!

  7. @MrKrueger88 on November 13, 2024 at 12:27 pm

It’s not simple maths , energy loss means it won’t charge 6.7 times , it’s only about 80% efficient at most . Suggest an edit .

  8. @battedtomcatnlnl153 on November 13, 2024 at 12:28 pm

    They are all fake

  9. @BAfan2024-n5n on November 13, 2024 at 12:28 pm

I used mine for the first time this past weekend, but it didn’t seem to work. When I plugged the USB cable into the charger, I did not see any indication on my phone that it was charging from the solar charger. What’s up with that?

  14. @la381 on November 13, 2024 at 12:35 pm

Serious question. so, what are consumers supposed to do with the power bank after the 6 uses??? It would not be environmentally friendly to toss it.

  15. @michaelhammond6024 on November 13, 2024 at 12:36 pm

Dose it charge wireless after it’s full charge?

  16. @wholenebaleba on November 13, 2024 at 12:37 pm

This panel can put out close to 100 watts https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxOqI2yqX0XVrhR2BMJciTWrHJpG8FhJyg when positioned in the appropriate southernly direction, tilted to the optimal angle for your latitude/date, and connected to a higher capacity device than a 500. The built in kickstand angle is a fixed at 50 degrees. Up to 20% more power can be output by selecting the actual date and latitude optimal angle. The 500 will only input 3.5A maximum at 18 volts for 63 watts. Some of the excess power from the panel can be fed into a USB battery bank, charged directly from the panel while also charging a 500. This will allow you to harvest as much as 63 + 15 = 78 watts. If this panel is used to charge a larger device, such as the power station, then its full output potential can be realized.

  17. @timothy2896 on November 13, 2024 at 12:39 pm

These phony devices just have the cheap solar panel connected to the power blinking light. They don’t even charge the battery. Chinese engineering at its best.
    Don’t buy any of these.

  18. @darioecheverri1607 on November 13, 2024 at 12:43 pm

Still, this device will save someone’s life if there is ever an apocalyptic type scenario and an EMP takes out the entire power grid.

  19. @TheaDragonSpirit on November 13, 2024 at 12:43 pm

Does the battery stay on ready to charge a phone? Or if a phone reaches 100%, does the power bank shut off, and let the phone go flat, despite the power bank being able to charge the phone. Basically I want a power bank to act like an extended battery, not just to charge the battery when the bank is turned on. Does this make sure phone battery doesn’t go flat if plugged in?

  20. @darioscomicschool1111 on November 13, 2024 at 12:44 pm

Thank you! In Germany it’S Oktober right now and the Bright Sunny days are now replaced by more greyish days. Is it useless? Does it need real Sun…or just daylight?

  21. @CreJ-pv4qf on November 13, 2024 at 12:44 pm

Thank you. this helped. straight to the point.

  22. @steveciarico9824 on November 13, 2024 at 12:44 pm

So what you’re saying is that i need to buy ten of them so i have a full charge ever day. Got it.

  23. @lydiaoboyle7541 on November 13, 2024 at 12:45 pm

Sorry i bought it now 🤔

  24. @mikeoxlong8272 on November 13, 2024 at 12:47 pm

I cant get mine to charge at all. Tried plugging it in overnight and nothing.

  25. @bob5466 on November 13, 2024 at 12:49 pm

I have one, the solar will only charge it to two bars. After I fully charge it from the charger, it won’t even charge my phone past 30% before it dies.

    Worst charger in the 🌎

  30. @chipz861 on November 13, 2024 at 12:56 pm

    QUESTION!
How long does it take to charge with the USB C charger wire ?

  31. @cyberhermit1222 on November 13, 2024 at 12:56 pm

Solar power banks are junk… Buy a solar panel that unfolds instead.

  32. @KevinNordstrom on November 13, 2024 at 12:57 pm

Better off to use a separate panel like a goal zero 20w solar panel to charge the banks. Will charge those within 3 -5 hours.

  33. @andrewcheadle on November 13, 2024 at 12:57 pm

Solar panel doesn’t work it’s just a rechargeable battery

  34. @TheFitmar on November 13, 2024 at 12:57 pm

    thank you so much 😘

  35. @possibleimpossible3359 on November 13, 2024 at 12:58 pm

How to fully activate solar cell battery?

    1. In order to fully activate the battery, please charge it via outlet or computer for 10 hours at least at the first 2-3 uses 2. For safety, DO NOT leave the solar cell power bank charging in car in case of high temperature and avoid crashing.

  41. @deannasturdevant883 on November 13, 2024 at 1:05 pm

Thanks for the truth! I was about to toss mine! Now it’s just a plug in charger not a solar toy!

  42. @jonkator8254 on November 13, 2024 at 1:05 pm

How about just get an extra real solar panels and charge it? This ways could make the battery bank charging a lot faster.

  43. @Перосвет on November 13, 2024 at 1:06 pm

to op isnt heat are not good for a battery? i would really2 like to buy this product but makes me think solar= heat + battery is that OK?

  44. @mschlund1 on November 13, 2024 at 1:06 pm

Only buy one that has an alternative charging option such as wall outlet, so you can always keep it at full charge before heading out into the wild

  45. @lp115 on November 13, 2024 at 1:06 pm

    great information. Thank you!

  46. @nakeealowery3772 on November 13, 2024 at 1:07 pm

Thanks for the video I couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t charge my phone after a few hours 😅

  47. @inayatafzal182 on November 13, 2024 at 1:07 pm

how do i turn it off?

  48. @cameronmoore136 on November 13, 2024 at 1:08 pm

    1:32 he looks so happy

  49. @BuckBrothersProjects on November 13, 2024 at 1:11 pm

Yeah.. I have the 36800mAH version and it only charges my phone twice! Clearly it has less juice than advertised. Looking into the product more closely you can find lots of contradictions and false claims with their advertising.

Does anyone know why the TSA objects to battery packs? Combustion?
