Do not use Yale locks! I have an AirBandB and used these locks. They worked for a few months and suddenly stopped working the day a guest was checking in to my home. I was 2 hours away. I had to get a lock smith come out and charge $400 to break the lock. Yale refuses to help other than offering to replace the lock with another of their lock which I have zero confidence in
2:19 I had a Schlage locks before I replaced it with the Schlage Encode. I was able to use my old keys be replacing the Encode core with my old one. Maybe not as easy as Kwikset, but it’s doable.

If anyone is considering Nest x Yale: don’t!
When you use it you have maybe 30 days or so before it whines about low battery for the next 6 months. Only way around it is to use disposable batteries.

I’m on the second Ultraloq – after a warranty replacement. It is an absolutely terrible product. He’s right – the sensor is bad. But the WORST part is the battery. It’ll eat thru 4 AA batteries in a couple weeks. And after the batteries get low, then none of the features (including auto lock) work at all. Avoid!

Can someone tell me if any of these locks will open from a distance? I am in a wheelchair and I’m looking for a lock that will open if I cannot get to the door inside the apartment any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

Zwave module units all are "offline" user codes. The Zwave controller sends the info to the lock. That would be true for all the Zwave locks and only would matter how many users are allowed in the lock.

I recommend the "Yale Doorman classic L2" because it isnt loud and its very fun to use, if u desire u can turn off the sounds it makes like the beeps when clicking on the numbers, i hope i helped someone find the lock they want.
Skip the Lockly from anywhere you’d buy it as a "normal consumer". You want the 728Z version that has Z-wave. It’s a little hard to find but worth it. And the Locklys are LPL approved. 😂

Almost perfect! I have to make some assumptions as to which locks REQUIRE having an online account.
I agree with skipping the camera locks. The camera belongs in the doorbell where they are never behind a screen/storm door, and are never recessed in doorways, as doors must be, so you have full range of view of people, packages, and can get intelligent motion sensing.
Now on to find the best doorbell with camera and intelligent motion sensing.
I like how the Schlage Encode Plus works, but I don’t want anything that requires being "locked" into their ecoprison and impossible for mixed households, nor requires mandatory membership dues, whether that be financial or becoming the commodity, and later be thrown under the bus when it is no longer supported. Voluntary participation for services rendered is fine. A lock with no physical key for backup is non-sense. What is already the near universal secure wallet and keys is the smart phone. They come with NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Internet, your calendar, email, for some states your driver’s license, passports are moving that way, access and ignition to few cars already, with the rest still requiring a subscription, your watch, alarm, stopwatch, navigation while driving or on foot, your Yellow Pages, recipes, books, learning videos, camera, video camera, call recorder/note taker, audio recorder, secure video chats, credit cards, replacing access cards, scanning barcodes, mirror, magnifying glass, E-Tickets, for all intents and purposes it is required for International travel for submitting your information at an AOE, flight schedules, your instant language translator by simply using the camera, and even translates telephone conversations or listening to someone speak in another language, and much more. It’s always on your night stand, on your desk, in your pocket, or in an armband at all times. 91-year-old grandmas in rest homes use them. There are zero reasons for not making a lock that uses NFC from phones and watches. If it’s safe enough for your credit cards, it’s safe enough for you door lock. A lost or stolen phone compromises nothing. Lost or stolen credit cards, checks, or keys grant access. They are all quickly replaced by restoring to a new device. It is a nightmare to replace everything with the compromise of keys or wallet.
Thinking people know where to draw the line between what they can and what they should automate, who view simplicity as a virtue, and who are not governed by "look at me, I’m smart" and making oneself indispensable to everyone using the system. (This is from someone highly-technical who doesn’t want to be enslaved by those with no interest in technology after implementation.)
Kwickset is the best affordable too.
If Samsung is not on this list…..then it’s not the right product review. Having lived in Korea for 8 years…..smart locks are the only things used by the majority.

There is a big issue with the Yale Assure 2 Z-Wave:
"This product will not work outside of the U.S. or Canada."
I don’t know what someone has to fuck up when designing a smart lock to make it only work in two countries, but I guess they managed to do it.

I’ve had the LOCKLY lock for 6 years now and it has been great, only problem I’ve had is my fingerprint scanner stopping working years ago, and LOCKLY can’t figure at why, so they stopped assisting me with it. Otherwise it is great with all the features
what about home assistant integration, let’ say you need one from home usage, I would want to know who just opened the door, for example if I enter home I would like to start playing a certain playlist on spotify, in your opinion which one of these locks can allow us to create these configurations on homeassistant?
If you have a regular lock and a deadbolt several inches above it, the deadbolt won’t be able to cover both lock holes, right? So you leave the regular knob in place and just put a smart lock where the old deadbolt was?
You want them to be loud. He gets that wrong, so i am assuming he doesn’t have one installed at his home. The newer Schlage is much more quiet and it’s not easy to audibly verify the door locked properly.
iPhone users 12:13 over $300 and not many 1 star reviews but they are scary and some of the 5 star reviews appear fake.

Are you an idiot? Keys are weak! They can pick most of these locks in a matter of seconds to minutes! I only want a smart lock with no damn physical key! Avoid locks with keys! Watch any video I watched them open many locks with a bump key or a pick from 5 seconds to a few minutes! NO KEYS! Don’t recommend locks with keys without that warning!
