Sad that screens are so bad at low budgets. Very helpful video though

What do you think of the budget Asus Vivobooks (M1605 for example)?

  8. @้ˆž็ฟ็Ž‹ on November 13, 2024 at 12:16 pm

Thanks for your advice, really useful I mean this video.

  9. @lightningbaron13 on November 13, 2024 at 12:17 pm

My vote will be for HP or Lenovo, but not into budget line laptops. Will not touch a Dell. Great video as always.

  10. @XXerky on November 13, 2024 at 12:18 pm

    Waiting for a 2024 update

  11. @tedchew696 on November 13, 2024 at 12:18 pm

Do you ever include Asus, or is it not a quality product?

  12. @johnscott5105 on November 13, 2024 at 12:20 pm

Of course anything under $500 is going have some compromises. The benefit of video’s like this lays out where each laptop has those compromises. I first bought a Inspiron myself and sent it back, ended up with a IdeaPad 5 with 1235U. Nice laptop two brightness levels on keyboard but biggest drawback is all RAM is soldered no chance to upgrade so chose RAM capacity at purchase.

I would either recommend Lenovo or Dell. I got an HP Pavilion DV6 way back in 2011 when Windows 7 was around, i didn’t like it due to its slow and laggy performace as it overheats even if i run small apps, replaced it in 2014 when I got a Dell Inspiron 5537 with Windows 8 (or 8.1 i’m not sure which Windows 8 it was, later updated it to Windows 10 in 2015), and the Inspiron 5537 was far better in terms of speed and performance and even had better build quality compared to the Pavilion DV6 that I had, the Inspiron is such a powerful laptop lasted me for 7~8 years during my university days until I replaced it with my Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 in 2021, the Flex 5 is also another great laptop, never faced any issues with it since Day 1. Crazy enough I still have my Dell Inspiron 5537 and still works after 10 years, despite now it’s getting very slow and laggy due to the PC’s age (4th gen intel core i7 cpu), which is why I upgrade it to the flex 5.

  15. @airiusadam2889 on November 13, 2024 at 12:23 pm

Review is pretty off since these laptops are outdated on the budget spectrum except for lenovo. Should have made the review base on the latest dell inspiron and hp pavillion series alongside the lenovo series. Inspiron 15 and hp pavillion 15 has seen some serious improvements.

  16. @RustyCardboard on November 13, 2024 at 12:23 pm

first laptop was ideapad, and I never looked for another laptop series

  17. @frricbc4442 on November 13, 2024 at 12:24 pm

Please review Lenovo V14 G3 IAP

  20. @farrahadams229 on November 13, 2024 at 12:34 pm

My flex5i was beautiful and lasted me about 5-6yearsโ€ฆ.. finally died this morning and the screen isnโ€™t connected to the hinges anymore. Seems like a common issue but Iโ€™m here now looking for other options and laughing because I might reorder it again

  21. @RotcodFox on November 13, 2024 at 12:35 pm

No gaming benchmarks? That’s super lame dude

  22. @pattyanime7116 on November 13, 2024 at 12:35 pm

hello am currently between inspiron and the idealpad, its for video editing and work but am currently entry lvl so its fine. witch one would you say better for the long haul and perfomance, ive got monitor for the color gamut.

  23. @4n0nmann5 on November 13, 2024 at 12:36 pm

Am I the only one who thought the microphone from the Dell was better and not worse? it just needs noise reduction (should be default on every decent meeting app) and it’s better

  24. @BackSlashJvb125 on November 13, 2024 at 12:38 pm

    inspirons are really good

  25. @durtydeedsREI on November 13, 2024 at 12:38 pm

    "budget" laptop for $1000, okay.

  26. @RajaRamGurungRaza on November 13, 2024 at 12:42 pm

can you make a video on 16inch laptops for students with futuristic features at affordable price.

  27. @hamburger--fries on November 13, 2024 at 12:43 pm

Blah! Dell is horrible. So many problems. HP still makes Laptops? Seriously? Seems you are targeting corporate people. You should at least represent 5 brands and not just the corporate brands.

  28. @TerrorSyxke on November 13, 2024 at 12:44 pm

Seeing the pavillion and previous experince with hp, do not buy a pavillion at all, buy a thinkpad t480, or a dell xps 9370

  29. @Jayson-Ellison on November 13, 2024 at 12:45 pm

Would love to see a video on refurbished thinkpads 300-400 from Newegg

  30. @MrBie on November 13, 2024 at 12:46 pm

Josh & team, did you have a look at Lenovo yoga pro 7i as well? Seems like a neat combo for a overall

  31. @fadope1612 on November 13, 2024 at 12:49 pm

Id like a comparisson video, eg asus zenbook 14 or 14x vs the same on from europe which is has better hardware but costs a lot more

  32. @wouldiwas8520 on November 13, 2024 at 12:49 pm

    Lenovo has hinge issue though

  33. @TheRealSpaceCommander on November 13, 2024 at 12:49 pm

while taking about budget laptop Dell insperion 14 2 in 1 is around 1,02,789 Indian Rupee ~($1,245.20) there is also another chonker of a laptop by dell, Dell G15(i7-12700H RTX 3060) Gaming laptop which comes at around 1,15,989.99 Indian Rupee ~($1405.12) and considering it comes with a 3060 and a number of extra ports it would make for a better alternative considering we are already spending over 1,00,000 INR on a laptop might as well go for a better GPU for little extra cost. the battery on G15 could have been better tho. would love if you could make a video on G15.

Edit: There is also a lower spec G15 (i5-12500H RTX 3050) which comes at around 74,589 Indian Rupees ~($903.58)

Please advise, what is the best value for money lightweight windows laptop?
Yoga 9i is cool but 1.4 kilos is heavy, my wife would trade any features for weight 1.2 kg or even better 1kg. I saw there are carbon or titanium laptops feom lenovo but got confused with their pricing, naming etc. Any thoughts?
    Thank you, amazing work, Josh

the amds are better for low end gameing

  40. @pupster8956 on November 13, 2024 at 12:55 pm

Has HP fixed their hinge defects? The only reason im looking for a laptop is because the hinge literally exploded when I opened up my laptop. I would not go HP for that alone. I am out of warranty soo my money went down the drain for a problem that HP has actually known is an issue for a while now ๐Ÿ™

  41. @muhammetfurkandemir2467 on November 13, 2024 at 12:57 pm

In my country (Tรผrkiye), products with tn panel, very bad speakers, very low chassis and plastic quality are still sold as a budget-friendly laptop, and students who buy new computers always have to buy these products. I always seen this laptos in public librarys .Example models: Lenovo v14-v15 – ideapad 1 – ideapad s145, hp 15-15s, acer aspire 3. When I see the Lenovo ideapad 3 model, I say "it has a very good quality case" Net minimum wage in Turkey is $400 and %50 percent of all workers , work in this price.

  42. @amiramimi9382 on November 13, 2024 at 12:57 pm

    Very helpful thank you

  43. @phoenix_tech-y7z on November 13, 2024 at 12:59 pm

I’m a lenovo ideapad user for the last 2yrs or more. Laptop build quality nit great, service in india poor poor poor. I definitely don’t recommend.

  44. @ST-ug1fo on November 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm

Hi, Josh . Why you never recommended acer ? Most of your videos doesn’t cover any laptop from Acer. You don’t like Acer or you think it’s not good?

  45. @angVanKhai on November 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm

Is the laptop dell Inspiron 5620 i5 1240P good at programming?

  46. @nuclearnyanboi on November 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm

I’d get a thinkpad t480 and run Debian or Fedora linux on it

  47. @Olivia-W on November 13, 2024 at 1:01 pm

Highly recomment to consider older Latitudes and Thinkpads.

  48. @geoffstrickler on November 13, 2024 at 1:05 pm

Iโ€™ve been pleasantly surprised by the IdeaPads. Surprisingly good build quality, keyboards, trackpads, and decent (but not great) screens, for very competitive prices.

  49. @robertmaxa6631 on November 13, 2024 at 1:05 pm

Acer didn’t make the cut, I noticed.
